ACPD chief lauds drop in violent crimes, efforts of his officers

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW)- Albemarle County Police Chief Colonel Sean Reeves praised the work of his department and pointed to an overall drop in violent crime Thursday, the day the ACPD released its mid-year crime report.

“I could not be more proud of the officers who work, and not just the officers, but the non-sworn support staff that work with the Albemarle County Police Department,” Reeves said during an appearance on WINA Morning News on Thursday.

According to the mid-year crime report, of the 41,498 calls for service received between the first of January and the 30th of June 2025, only 465 were priority response calls (e.g. crimes against persons, violence, etc.). Appearing on WINA Morning News however, Colonel Reeves mentioned that 465 was a 10% increase from the mid-year crime report from last year…
