Albemarle County awarded $9.7M for Rivanna Futures project

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Virginia Business Ready Sites Program (VBRSP) has awarded Albemarle County $9.7 million to support site readiness work at Rivanna Futures. The grant is administered by the Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) that aims to attract projects and jobs to localities by ensuring sites are project ready.

“We are deeply grateful to the Commonwealth for its continued investment in Rivanna Futures,” Albemarle County Board of Supervisors Chair Jim Andrews said in a press release Friday, “Each step forward, from advancing infrastructure design to completing site readiness work, brings us closer to unlocking the fully potential of this property.” The funding will help expedite pre-construction activities so that the property is ready for future development.

Rivanna Futures was acquired by Albemarle County in December 2023 and has been cited as critical to long-term development in the area bringing high-quality jobs and strengthening the economic base.
