Agricultural tradition celebrated at Albemarle County Fair

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) – With no Ferris wheels or cotton candy in sight, the Albemarle County Fair may lack some of the classic features of a county fair. Instead, it leans into tradition, bringing the agriculture and urban communities to the scenic grounds of James Monroe’s Highland.

Olivia Brown, Executive Director of Albemarle Charlottesville’s Historical Society, does not mind that it is a bit unconventional. She says the joy attendees share is unrivaled.

“A lot of time people think of the county fair and they’re thinking of a Ferris wheel and fried Oreos,” Brown said. “But there’s so much more to it than that.”…
