CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – A walk-in vaccination was held at Charlottesville High School on Friday, August 8, offering required shots and other immunizations for incoming students grades 7-12.
One health official says there has not been a decline in vaccination rates for these grades, but religious exemptions have been a more common theme across Virginia and nationwide.
“We try our best to increase that awareness of vaccines and their requirements, and that’s just one way to try to ensure that the students and staff in Virginia are protected,” said Doctor Erica Hunter, an immunizations data and outreach manager with the Virginia Department of Health. “We’re sharing information with parents, so they’re well informed of immunizations.”…
