Virginia Man Shoots Ex-Best Friend in Groin Over Girlfriend Dispute

A Virginia man was sentenced to life in prison Friday morning after being convicted of first-degree murder in the 2024 death of his former friend. Dustin Dove appeared in Waynesboro Circuit Court for the sentencing hearing, following a jury verdict in April that found him guilty of killing Seth Wallace.

During Dove’s trial, his defense did not dispute that he shot Wallace but argued that there was no intent to kill. According to court records, Wallace was shot multiple times in May 2024 and succumbed to his injuries two weeks later at UVA Health.

At the sentencing hearing, the commonwealth emphasized that Dove had shown no remorse for his actions. Wallace’s mother delivered a victim impact statement, describing the devastating effect of her son’s death.
