Charlottesville protesters gather against McGuire

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – Indivisible Charlottesville and the Charlottesville Clergy Collective went to Lynchburg on Monday morning, August 18, to protest outside of Congressman John McGuire’s office.

“[We’re] showing up for our community to bring a message of mercy and justice to our community in these times where our federal government, particularly, is showing a lot of cruelty to various members of the community and enacting a lot of harmful policies,” said Reverend Karen Munn, pastor of Sojourners United Church of Christ and a member of the Charlottesville Clergy Collective.

Charlottesville demonstrators said Monday’s protest is a joint effort with Indivisible Lynchburg to protest McGuire’s support of cuts to food assistance, Medicaid, and research funding impacting people in the 5th Congressional District…
