U.S. Attorney Todd Gilbert resigns after one month on the job

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – Federally-appointed U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Virginia Todd Gilbert resigned Wednesday after a little over a month on the job. A spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney’s Office confirmed his exit.

Gilbert gave no reason for his abrupt decision. On July 14, he posted on social media he was “proud and excited to be sworn in” to the role of chief federal law enforcement officer for the district that covers both Charlottesville and the Shenandoah Valley.
