Nelson County works to improve DSS after case handling concerns

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) — Efforts to improve the Department of Social Services in Nelson County are progressing following a significant leadership shakeup. This development comes in the wake of an ABC13 investigation into the handling of child abuse and neglect cases.

Many agencies expressed their concerns last month about the department’s communication, documentation, and investigation rate for child abuse and neglect cases.
