Harrisonburg road closure expected to last into evening after car hits electric pole

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) – Multiple road closures are in effect north of downtown Harrisonburg after a vehicle hit an electric pole at the intersection of North Main Street and East Washington Street, according to city police.

Director of Communications and Public Engagement Michael Parks confirmed the driver had been taken into custody on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

Road closures are in place on North Main Street between Mason Street and Commerce Drive, as well as on East Washington Street between Commerce Drive and North Main Street, according to the Harrisonburg Police Department. HPD advises travelers to use a different route to avoid traffic in the area and said the closures will likely extend into the evening commute time…
