Attend a ‘Labor Day teach-in’ to learn more about federal intervention at UVA and what’s at stake

Members of the UVA and Charlottesville community will hold a “Labor Day teach-in” at the university from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 1.

As UVA is the largest employer, landowner and healthcare provider in the area — and decisions made at the university can often have ripple effects throughout the community — local residents are encouraged to attend the event, organizers said.

The event will cover recent developments at the university — from former President Jim Ryan’s sudden and controversial ouster on June 27 to the Student Council, Faculty Senate and General Faculty Council all passing resolutions of no confidence in the Board of Visitors.
