UVA demonstrators express concerns at ‘Labor Day Teach-In’

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – Monday’s ‘Hands Off UVA Labor Day Teach-In’ demonstration brought students, professors, faculty, and community members together on the University of Virginia’s grounds in a show of frustration with the university’s Board of Visitors.

“If the [Board of Visitors] continues to shun shared governance, and involve the people who make this university run, and make choices that they think are best but are detached from what this place actually needs, then the UVA we all know and love could disappear,” said Ian Mullins, associate professor at UVA and a member of the UVA Chapter of the United Campus Workers Virginia.
