House built in 1842 will continue to make history in Charlottesville

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – On Tuesday, September 2, Charlottesville City Council met to consider an appeal to demolish a historic house on Wertland Street.

Built in 1842, the house is one of few left built before 1850.

With this house being such a mark in Charlottesville’s history, city council included the intention to preserve and protect buildings which serve as historic reminders to the city…
