Person sought in connection with Lake Monticello shooting victim

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office has requested help in locating a person of interest in the Monday morning discovery of a shooting victim at the main entrance for the Lake Monticello subdivision.

Deputies responding to a 2:10 a.m. call arrived to find Aloys Hopfensperger of Palmyra suffering from a gunshot injury with additional indications of an assault. Rescue personnel transported the victim to the hospital for treatment, where he remains in critical condition.

Further investigation has revealed that a vehicle entered the Lake Monticello subdivision near the Slice Gate and drove to the main gate security station, where the victim was left. The vehicle has been identified as a black, newer-model Hyundai Palisade with black wheels, driven by an individual identified as Shirley Marie Brown of Palmyra.
