CHARLOTTESVILLE (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) — Among the rows of peach trees and blueberry bushes littered throughout Chiles Peach Orchard in Crozet is one particularly hefty fruit that has put its farmer’s name in the record book.
Guinness World Records officially verified on Sept. 10 that Henry Chiles had received the record for heaviest peach, with his fruit weighing in at 1 lb. 13 oz.
Chiles, a fifth-generation farmer, told Guiness World Records that the weather conditions over the spring and summer had been perfect for growing the peach, with the spring frost reducing competition from the flowers on the tree and the summer rains helping its growth…
