CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – Attendants at Indivisible Charlottesville’s ‘Protect Workers’ Rights’ event Sunday afternoon wrote postcards to Virginia lawmakers, expressing their concerns surrounding labor laws and workers’ rights in the Commonwealth.
“Having that community support is ultimately the leverage that we as public sector workers have right there,” said Vernon Liechti, treasurer for the Albemarle Education Association, a union representing workers at Albemarle Schools. “Our elected leadership answer to us. We are the ones who determine if they come back or not.”
