Salvation Army faces looming funding deadline in Center of Hope expansion

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – The Salvation Army is running up against a deadline in its long-awaited efforts to expand homelessness services in Charlottesville.

The organization has already raised $15,074,934, a little more than half of what it needs to tear down its current Ridge Street shelter facility and build a new and bigger one as part of its Center of Hope Capital Campaign. But the Salvation Army needs about $2.3 million in cash by December 31, or else construction plans could stall.
