(WDBJ) – Saunders Brothers knows all about apples. The Nelson County nursery shows how apples are grown and harvested in a video on Virginia Agriculture in the Classroom’s YouTube channel.
In the video, Marshall Saunders says, “The Blue Ridge mountains are one of the best places to grow apples. Our warm days and cool nights, especially as harvest season approaches, are perfect for producing high-quality fruit.”
It’s content fitting for the season. The first full week in October is designated as Virginia Farm to School Week. The Virginia Department of Education uses this week to promote the Virginia Farm to School Program that puts locally-grown food on cafeteria trays across the Commonwealth.
