Public notice: New restaurant planned for former Blue Moon Diner location

Almost a year has passed since the Blue Moon Diner closed at 606 West Main Street, but a new restaurant is preparing to open at the site.

A company called 606 West Main Street LLC has filed for a license with the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority for a place to be called Maggie’s Midtown. That’s according to a public notice in the October 4, 2025 edition of the Charlottesville Daily Progress.

A first version of the Blue Moon Diner opened in 1979 and closed in 2004 to become a commissary for Harvest Moon Catering. In 2006, new owners reopened the space which closed temporarily while an apartment building known as Six Hundred West Main was constructed behind the building…
