High schoolers looking to get ahead boost Virginia community college enrollment

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – Enrollment in Virginia community colleges has bounced back over the past three years after a decade of decline.

A new report from the Joint Legislative Audit and Review Commission on the Virginia Community College System, or VCCS, details how a growing number of high school students are also enrolling in schools like Piedmont Virginia Community College.

“It’s a really powerful institution,” said Leondra Williams Keniston, Vice President of Academic Affairs and Workforce Development for PVCC. “We’re seeing trends down, up, whatever — but we’re really here, and very centered on our mission as an institution and we want to serve the community in all the ways that we can.”…
