CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – A consultant’s report presented to the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors Wednesday, Oct. 15, found the county’s police and fire departments are struggling with low staffing, high turnover and strained work cultures.
The 350-page report by Emergency Services Consulting International detailed how both departments have fallen behind on staffing as the county’s population continues to grow. The consultant group found it could take five to seven years to bring both departments back to adequate staffing levels.
