UVA faculty express ‘grave concerns’ about deal with federal government

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – The Faculty Senate at the University of Virginia is demanding answers about what the university’s agreement with the Department of Justice means for the community.

On Friday, October 24, the Senate passed a resolution expressing “grave concerns” about the deal and what it commits the university and its future president to over the next few years.

Calling it the “best available path forward,” Interim President Paul Mahoney signed the agreement last week, which ended the remaining five federal investigations into civil rights compliance on Grounds without any monetary fee…
