Albemarle County encourages community to sign up for emergency text alerts

The system sends out alerts about severe weather, public safety notices and other emergency notifications throughout Albemarle, Charlottesville, and on the University of Virginia’s campus. The free alerts work to keep community members safe and in the know in the case of emergencies.

“There’s no shortage of messaging that we’re all receiving, so I think it’s really vital to set aside a moment and really make sure that you’re getting these key critical emergency alerts,” said Abbey Stumpf, director of communications for Albemarle County. “Use these alerts as part of your whole preparedness plan.”…
