Food for Fines drive supports Central Virginia food assistance

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – The Jefferson-Madison Regional Library’s 8th annual Food for Fines food drive is underway, allowing patrons to reduce overdue fees while supporting hunger relief efforts in Central Virginia.

“It’s part of us giving back to the community and helping our neighbors out — and a lot of people will just donate for that reason,” said Brittany Eversberg, circulation services manager at JMRL.

By donating nonperishable foods, supplies, or hygiene products to the food drive at any JMRL location, library patrons can receive $1 off overdue and late renewal fines for each item donated…
