CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – Dozens of tents now line the Rivanna Trail near Free Bridge, marking an increase from the encampment size seen two months ago.
Charlottesville City workers relocated an encampment from under Free Bridge in August, citing safety concerns with flooding along the Rivanna. That area under the bridge remains clear, but more people are choosing to stay nearby.
With temperatures dropping and winter weather approaching, whether people will continue to camp along the trail is unclear…
