Charlottesville charity group kicks off annual winter coat drive for the homeless

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – Do Good CVille’s 10th annual Winter Wear Drive is underway and collecting donations through November 17.

“Giving back in this way lets you see that you’re in control of your environment right here,” said Kerry Rock, founder of Do Good CVille. “People can be worried about how big things are happening in the world, but you have control to help somebody be warm right now — and all it takes is just that coat you’re not using anymore. Why don’t you give it to that neighbor of yours? Because that’s who we’re helping, we’re helping our neighbors.”

The organization is accepting winter clothing, including coats, sweaters, and pants, to benefit The Haven, a day shelter in Charlottesville, to provide warm clothes for people experiencing homelessness this winter…
