UVA Hospital sock drive collects 42,000 pairs for unhoused

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – UVA Hospital’s nutrition provider collected 42,000 pairs of socks for the unhoused in the Charlottesville area through a month-long donation drive called Sock-tober.

The donations were split evenly between The Haven and Salvation Army and delivered Monday as temperatures drop across the region.

Organizers said they tripled last year’s donations and doubled their 2024 goal…
