Drive connects Albemarle students with coats this winter

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) – A coat drive by Communities in Schools of Northern Virginia is working to connect students in Albemarle County with warm clothes this winter.

“If the students have warm, reliable outerwear, they’re better, better able to get to school comfortably and safely,” said Brezhana Reed, community engagement coordinator for CIS of NOVA. “Lack of the proper winter clothing is a hidden barrier to school attendance. So this coat drive helps remove that barrier, and it ensures more students can show up consistently and engage fully in school activities.”

Reed said that through donations, they hope to get coats into the hands of as many students as possible…
