School closures and delays announced ahead of Dec. 2 winter weather

Amid a winter weather advisory issued for Staunton, Augusta County and Waynesboro, several local school districts have announced closures and two-hour delays.

Staunton schools closed

Staunton City Schools will be closed on Dec. 2 due to the forecast.

“The freezing rain is expected during our scheduled bus routes and could create unsafe travel conditions for student drivers and staff,” reads the Staunton City Schools Facebook post announcing the closure.

The post also specifies:

  • Twelve-month employees do not report.
  • All athletic & extracurricular activities are canceled.
  • VCTC & Governor’s School students may attend if they open/delay, but no SCS transportation will be provided.

Augusta County and Waynesboro on a two hour delay so far
