Grant Awarded for Elk Run Stream Restoration Project in Downtown Elkton

The Central Shenandoah Planning District Commission (CSPDC) has received a $535,193 grant from the Department of Environmental Quality for the Elk Run Stream Restoration Project in downtown Elkton, Virginia. The project will focus on a 420-foot section of Elk Run Creek to address bank erosion, improve water quality, and increase public access.

The project area is located between S. Stuart Avenue, W. Spotswood Trail, and W. Rockingham Street. Plans include reshaping the stream bank, planting native vegetation, and creating natural paths for visitors. Construction is scheduled to begin in late spring 2026.
