Albemarle County Police Department Earns State Accreditation, Highlighting Commitment to Local Safety

The Albemarle County Police Department (ACPD) in Virginia has received accreditation from the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission (VLEPSC). The accreditation follows a year-long process in which ACPD updated its policies and procedures, including changes to its Evidence and Property Unit.

In October 2025, VLEPSC assessors visited ACPD to review its compliance with 193 standards. These standards cover operations, administration, personnel, training, and public safety.
