Charlottesville shooting suspect arrested in Albemarle

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – Albemarle Police have arrested an 18-year-old that Charlottesville Police believe was involved in a September shooting.

According to a Charlottesville Police Department news release, Albemarle officers arrested Nasir Dashawn Walker on Tuesday, December 16, at an apartment on Whitewood Road. Charlottesville detectives then obtained a search warrant for the apartment where they found a stolen firearm. Charlottesville Police have charged Walker with two counts of attempted malicious wounding and one county firearm possession by a convicted felon.

Police believe Walker was involved in a September 1 shooting on the 1000 block of 1st Street South. After Charlottesville Police officers on foot heard gunshots at about 10:22 p.m., another officer saw a car driving away from the area and running a red light on Avon Street.
