CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – Biotech in the Charlottesville-area has grown at twice the speed of the national average, with a 23 percent increase in jobs since 2019.
That’s according to a study conducted by CvilleBioHub. Now the group is looking ahead to even faster growth in the next few years, following Astrazeneca’s announcement it would be building a plant in Albemarle County, creating hundreds of jobs.
“What we really need is cohesion amongst all the players that includes private sector, government, university, and our community organizations that are pulling all the talent together and being able to point those right people to the right places at the right time,” said Nikki Hastings, CvilleBioHub’s co-founder and executive director. “And so we’ll be doing that through an implementation opportunity in 2026.”…
