A weak weather system will approach Christmas Day – Thursday – to bring morning rain showers. At the onset, predawn some wet snowflakes could mix in, but primarily just a chilly rain. Currently, only light rain expected in the morning, with mostly cloudy skies lingering and high temperatures in the 50s to near 60. The clouds thinning or not, will play a role in how high the temperatures climb for the afternoon.
Sharply colder temperatures will return for Friday, behind a back door cold front. Temperatures in the upper 30s to near 40 with more rain developing, mainly by late morning and afternoon. This may start as a little sleet or freezing rain for some, otherwise a cold rain. We will continue to monitor. Overall rain amounts from Thursday and Friday, generally less than a half inch.
Clouds and sun for the weekend after Christmas, with milder temperatures back in the 50s. While dry Saturday, some showers Sunday, ahead of the next cold front. This front will usher in another blast of modified Arctic air for next week and final days of the year.
