NELSON COUNTY, Va. (WSET) — Months after Nelson County’s Director of Social Services resigned after the dissolution of the department’s board, a new director has been announced.
In August, ABC13 reported on the Social Services Department in Nelson County after local officials spoke out, saying the department was neglecting child safety concerns. None of the CPS reports in Nelson County in 2024 were investigated, according to Child Protective Services, and Nelson County Sheriff Mark Embrey previously said some of the reports included “felonious abuse.”
Within two days of our report, the Social Services board had been dissolved, and the director resigned…
