Charlottesville and Albemarle County begin annual Christmas tree recycling program

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – Charlottesville and Albemarle County have launched their annual Christmas tree recycling program, helping keep thousands of trees out of landfills and giving them a second life as mulch.

The program collects more than 2,300 Christmas trees each year, according to Charlottesville Public Information Officer Kyle Ervin.

“It’s a big item, you don’t want to improperly dispose of your tree. And then we’re helping the environment by recycling it,” Ervin said…
