ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The Albemarle County Police Department has named its Officer of the Year for 2025.
The department congratulated Officer Ryan Sheridan and K-9 Dembe on Wednesday, Jan. 7 for “their dedication, reliability and, professionalism,” according to a Facebook post.
The duo was quite busy throughout 2025, as they:
- Responded to 373 calls for service
- Seized more than 58 grams of methamphetamine and 40 grams of cocaine
- Recovered multiple firearms
- Assisted in apprehending 9 violent offenders
