Nelson County has hired a new social services director several months after the Board of Supervisors took control of the department.
Elizabeth Grace Carter Deshong started work in the position on January 1. She has previous experience in Nelson County and recently worked as a supervisor in the Central Shenandoah Valley Office on Youth.
“Grace Deshong brings an exceptional combination of experience, integrity, and deep local knowledge,” said Candy McGarry, Nelson County Administrator, in an information release. “Her proven leadership and commitment to protecting vulnerable citizens make her uniquely qualified to lead the Department of Social Services during a period of growth and transformation for the County.”…
