UVA Health receives $500,000 federal grant for infectious disease preparedness

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – UVA Health has been awarded a $500,000 federal grant aimed at strengthening its ability to respond to major infectious disease outbreaks.

Hospital leaders say the funding will support preparedness efforts for high-consequence illnesses such as Ebola, Marburg virus, and avian influenza, while also expanding the hospital’s role as a designated Special Pathogen Treatment Center.
