STAUNTON — Until the very end, Bonnie S. Williams, convicted by a jury in October of illegally acquiring hundreds of thousands of dollars from a friend who was suffering from cognitive decline, continued to question her guilt.
“I feel like I’m innocent because I was trying to help my friend,” the 72-year-old Grottoes woman said Jan. 8 during her sentencing hearing in Augusta County Circuit Court.
