CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – It’s another First Alert Weather Day. A cold front passed through yesterday afternoon reinforcing the cold weather today. Highs will struggle to go above freezing and breezy conditions keep the winds chills in the 10s and 20s. On the bright side, it is another sunny day! Frigid conditions again tonight as lows stay in the teens. Here’s your planner!
After a slight warm up Thursday, another cold front blasts through the area dropping temperatures into the 40s Friday. Then we get another front Friday into Saturday, pushing temperatures down into the 20s and establishing favorable conditions for snowfall this weekend.
FIRST ALERT WEEKEND – WINTER SNOW STORM
Both Saturday and Sunday have been named First Alert due to a winter storm that is expected to track through the area. Right now, models are showing the system approaching late Saturday and slowly moving through the area into Sunday. Sunday is currently expected to favor heavier and more consistent snow fall. We could see a considerable amount of snow from this storm – however, there is still a large amount of uncertainty – not only with the amount of snow, but also with the track of the system. Continue to check in as we approach the weekend!
