Charlottesville police and firefighters to help students get to school

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – Charlottesville police officers and firefighters will lend a hand helping students get to school through snowy and icy conditions beginning Monday, February 2.

Police and Fire personnel will be around bus stops, sidewalks and other key travel routes to keep an eye on things and make sure students get to school safely, according to a city news release. Charlottesville Public Works will also work alongside a contractor to clear bus stops and sidewalks.

“We know winter conditions remain a concern, and rather than lose another instructional day, we’re using every resource available to support families and give parents peace of mind,” City Manager Sam Sanders said in the news release…
