The legacy of the St. John School lives on in the names, stories and faces of those who attended the school in Gordonsville in the early 1900s.
“It’s part of our legacy that we share as a community. It all began right here in these classrooms,” said 80-year-old Rebecca Kinney, who attended the St. John School as a child. “It was like a family. It was a very close-knit environment. You knew the teacher cared about you, and you felt safe, and you knew she was concerned about your learning.”
