Will Wade following blowout loss to UVA: ‘We’re not ready to compete with the top of the league’

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA — It was a game to forget from start to finish for the NC State on the road in Charlottesville, as they dropped their third contest in the past four outings in a 90–61 thumping to Virginia, falling to 19-9 (10-5 in the Atlantic Coast Conference) on the year.

The Wolfpack dug themselves into a massive hole in the first half and never recovered, shooting an abysmal 6-for-33 from the floor over the opening 20 minutes. The Cavaliers closed the half on a 12-1 run to build a commanding advantage, fueled by eight first-half blocks that completely disrupted NC State’s offensive rhythm.

The lone bright spot for the Pack was Paul McNeil Jr., who led all scorers with 22 points and added six rebounds. However, the loss marks NC State’s second straight road defeat by a lopsided margin, as they’ve now dropped their last two away games by a combined 70 points…
