ACPD arrests 17-year-old in connection to drive-by shooting

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) — Albemarle County Police have arrested a 17-year-old juvenile male on Monday in connection with a drive-by shooting that occurred on Jan. 16.

He has been charged with three felonies; use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, malicious wounding and shooting within 1,000 feet of a school, according to a release. He is currently being held at the Blue Ridge Juvenile Detention Center.

Officers were dispatched to UVA Health at approximately 10:23 p.m. the night of the shooting after one victim arrived in non-life-threatening condition with a gunshot wound. After speaking with witnesses, officers determined the shooting took place in the area near Hydraulic Road and Lambs Road near Albemarle High School approximately half-an-hour before they were dispatched.
