UVA Health Gynecologic Oncology ranked No. 2 in nation for clinical trial enrollment

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – UVA Health’s gynecologic oncology program has been named No. 2 in the country for patient enrollment in clinical trials. According to representatives, the program has enrolled 405 patients across those trials.

The trials are designed to give patients access to new treatment options while advancing research into drugs and treatments for gynecologic cancers.

“It gives patients the opportunity, in many cases, to get a drug that they wouldn’t otherwise be able to get because it’s not FDA approved,” said Dr. Linda Duska, UVA Health gynecologic oncologist and associate dean for clinical research at the UVA School of Medicine. “I also find that patients are very generous and want us to be able to learn more about these treatments, not just for their own selves, but for other women in the future or other people in the future.”…
