CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – UVA Health hosted a giant inflatable colon on Friday, March 13, to raise awareness about colorectal cancer and the importance of screenings.
“The purpose of the event today is to kind of raise awareness, not only of the prominence of colorectal cancer, but also of the different screening modalities that are available,” said Rachel Keller, a second-year internal medicine resident at UVA Health.
The event was held by the UVA Comprehensive Cancer Center in partnership with the nonprofit Hitting Cancer Below the Belt and focused on the range of testing options available to patients beyond colonoscopies.
