Area chefs team up for Cystic Fibrosis fundraiser

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Five of the area’s most notable and accomplished chefs are teaming up to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Virginia chapter.

Laura Fonner (Zynodoa), Michael Keaveny (Tavola), Christian Kelly (Duner’s), Walter Slawski (The Catering Outfit), and Tucker Yoder (Broadcloth) are putting together a five-course dinner to raise money for cystic fibrosis research at the second annual Charlottesville Chef’s Table on Thursday at the Wool Factory.

“There are about 850 people in Virginia who have CF, and about one in 31 are carriers of the defective gene,” Beth Saladino, executive director of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Virginia Chapter, told Cville Right Now. “So, even though we sound like a small disease, it is really affecting more people than you think. We know that the ultimate cure will be a genetic cure and along with that comes a lot of scientific challenges, as well as expense. But we are not taking our foot off the gas.”…
