Chicken Salad Chick, founded by Stacy Brown, originated in Auburn, Alabama with its first location opening in 2008. Since then, the restaurant has been one of the more reliable lunch places in the South with over 300 locations. Even though I had never been to the restaurant before, when I found out about their opening in Stonefield I knew I had to check it out.
The first thing I noticed was big bold lettering stating, “Good food brings people together and nourishes the soul.” However, the quote is not the only thing that provides a warm, southern vibe to the restaurant, as each table has a unique, vibrant table cloth. Accompanying the tables is a bright red napkin dispenser with the restaurant’s story on the side. The menu itself is separated into three different categories: a scoop meal, two scoop meal, and a sandwich meal. Whatever you pick out of the three can have up to two sides and a complementary pickle and cookie. I decided to get two of the two scoop meals with three sides. The sides I selected were broccoli salad, broccoli cheddar soup, and the grape salad. While there are a variety of flavors to pick for your scoop, I went with the Sassy Scott, Classic Carol, Fancy Nancy, and Jill Pickle scoops.
After trying four different scoops here’s my verdict: the Sassy Scott is the way to go. With its bold bacon, cheddar, ranch flavors it outweighs the other scoops which were honestly not groundbreaking. The Classic Carol is pretty predictable as it really just tastes like your average chicken salad, and the same goes for the Fancy Nancy even though I did really enjoy the grapes and pecans mixed in. However, I was intrigued by the Jill Pickle scoop mostly because it was the “special of the month.” At first, I thought that this one was not going to be great, but I surprisingly enjoyed the addition of pickle into the salad…
