🚧 Downtown Mall Crossings Closed April–June for Upgrades

Starting April 1, 2026, the City of Charlottesville will close the 4th Street NE and 2nd Street NW crossings at the Downtown Mall for construction work. Crews will replace brick and granite pavers, repair concrete, and upgrade storm drains to keep the area safe and accessible.

Both crossings will stay closed to vehicles through June 12, 2026, though they may reopen sooner if work finishes early. Trash pickup and deliveries will continue via nearby alleys, but two-hour and ADA parking near the sites will be temporarily removed…
