‘It’s just tough’: Central Va. eateries and food trucks feel the squeeze of higher fuel costs

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – With the war in Iran driving higher diesel costs and disruptions to the supply chain, restaurants and food trucks here in Central Virginia are feeling the squeeze.

“It’s just tough,” said Jessica Lino, the owner of Farmacy Cafe in Charlottesville.

At their cafe on the Downtown Mall, and all throughout the City, Lino and her family cook up and serve organic, Mexican fusion food – everything from breakfast burritos to vegan tofu tacos to a spicy buffalo chicken sandwich. Lino tells 29News the restaurant began in a food truck, and though it’s since expanded to a storefront on the Downtown Mall, they’ll use the truck at events about four to five times per week during the busier season…
